Contacting
your elected officials
In
our experience, the most effective ways to make your voice heard
are, in order of effectiveness:
1)
Personal visit by large group
2) Paper petition signed by citizens, the more the better
3) Advertisements directly addressing your reps
by name
4) Phone or letter campaigns
5) Personal visit by you
6) Personal Telegram
7) Hand-written letter
8) Phone call
9) E-mail

1,396) Questionable e-mail petition
We always recommend a phone call or letter over an e-mail. But however
you reach your Government Representatives, whomever they are, do
it, whether by e-mail, phone, telegram, or out in the street, it
does make a difference, no matter where on this list it is.
Generally
speaking, e-mail petitions that are forwarded are a waste of your
time. Why? Online petitions that you
must go to and sign up for are much better. Paper petitions are
best.
