Regarding: Queer weddings
Comments: How in the fuck can we be discriminating against gays (queers)
when it isn't an ethnic group? It's a behavior, Asshole, and a rotten
one at that. I don't fear gays, I despise them because they disgust me.
Gay means happy, not queer. You queers are going to be tortured in Hell
forever and ever. Fuck off and die.
-------------------
Don,
I suggest you learn more about the word "discrimination"
before you continue to misuse it and maybe put an eye out or something
tragic like that.
In America, it doesn't matter if you despise someone or
not, they still have the same rights as everyone else does, like it or
not. Allowing gays and lesbians the benefits given to married straight
couples isn't catering to a special interest, it's simply legislating
equal rights that have been denied so far. Last I checked, there was a
separation of church and state. Any argument quoting the bible, like the
ones that are used by Bush, Ashcroft, and the rest, have no place under
our Constitution. Neither do the ones based on what disgusts someone.
Back, even in the early 60s, blacks were not allowed to
share a swimming pool with whites because some whites were disgusted by
the idea. Is that you? How is your logic any different?

Dumbass is right. Except you people are the dumbasses. The point of
"united we stand" is only if w'ere united are we successful,
otherwise divided we fall. I'm not surprised though, I don't expect you
types to think objectively and sensibly. You just want start trouble cause
you people can't and won't think beyond your emotions.
Obviously we're not standing united with people like you in existence.
"UNITED WE STAND" -it's a reminder, not necessarily the status
quo
-------------------
I disagree. We do not have to all think the same thing, have the same
opinions, or have the same politics. This shirt is a response to the tremendous
pressure for "everyone to support the President," whatever that
actually means, being an incredibly vague statement, and to "Support
our Troops," whatever *that* means, ditto, and that "United
We Stand," ditto again. The problem with slogans like "United
We Stand" and the like, and the reason for our sarcastic response
is that vague, psuedo-patriotic, pressure-filled statements like that
do nothing to actually encourage discourse, analytical thinking, or real
coalition-building.
Dissent is not un-patriotic, nor is it reactionary and evidence that "
You just want start trouble cause you people can't and won't think beyond
your emotions. " It's just that some people have different opinions
and views than you do. I refuse to agree with something I disagree with
just to "look united."
Senator McCarthy once tried to do that. In retrospect, he is despised.
Toeing the line just for the sake of not rocking the boat doesn't do anyone
any good.
"United We Stand," yellow ribbons, and the like is arguable
whether it's the status quo or not, but slogans like that are used as
a way to pressure people into acting like it is the status quo. How is
that "American?"

Comments: Regarding: Crticism of your whole purpose The USA is not a
democracy, it is a representative Republic. A democracy is mob rule. Why
don't you just call your website what it truly is, Hating America and
Hating President Bush. I suppose you think Al Gore would have done a better
job negotiating with Saddam Hussein, Arafat, Bin Laden et al. Regarding
your criticism of cutting the EPA, Education et cetera, My copy of the
US Constitution says the government must provide for the common defense,
none of those other things are in there. And by the way how did you get
to work, school, shopping , recreation today? In your solar powered vehicle?
In your electric vehicle (what produced the AC?) OIL!
Dear Jeffrey,
While the US is a Representative Republic, your point is
just niggling and serves no purpose but to criticize. Regardless, I hope
you send letters to President Bush reminding him to say the words "Representative
Republic" instead of "Democracy," because he makes this
mistake all the time, and extending your argument with us, I agree with
you that it would be misleading for him to do so.
We do not hate America. Since when has voicing a DISSENTING
OPINION hating America? Seems to me that questioning people's patriotism
when they question our government is more hateful to the vision of this
country than anything else.
As far as your very meager argument about "Regarding
your criticism of cutting the EPA, Education et cetera, My copy of the
US Constitution says the government must provide for the common defense,
none of those other things are in there." There is also this thing
called the "Bill of Rights" and this body of work called "U.S.
Federal and State Law." The Constitution is a foundation for the
rest of the law. Your argument insinuates that you have no respect or
value for the entire body of U.S. law other than the Constitution. Since
I doubt you really hold that position, what exactly is the point you're
trying to make with your gross generalization?
OIL? Yes, who says that oil is a bad thing? It's the over-dependence
on oil, the competing forms of energy, and the thoughtless use of fossil
fuels that's the problem. If you were constantly climbing over a 40 foot
wall to get to work and I showed you that there was a door you could easily
go through instead, would you call me unpatriotic? Would you call me a
hypocrite because sometimes I need to get to the top of the wall?

THE ONGOING SAGA OF DAVID ROSE...

Subject: A REAL American
As a REAL American, I am nauseated. You and the other anti-war (and thus
anti-American) zealots clearly wish harm to the American people, as do
the terrorists and their allies, the French, German, and Russian people,
and most other people in the world. Do you even care that 3,006 civilians
were murdered twenty-two months ago only because they were Americans?
The terrorists want to come after you, too. They do not care that you
support everything they do.
More on one point on the so-called "Axis of Cowardice" (I did
not coin this term but I do not remember where I saw it first). Jacques
Chirac has stated his hope, in so many words, to lead France to be my
country's number one enemy. His staunch support last winter of your no.
2 hero, Saddam Hussein (only behind his ally, Osama bin Laden), shows
this.
One thing that sickens me too, and it is not just you, but all of the
hard left, is that the hard left tries to squelch the voices of everyone
to the political right of them. The hard left also throw a hissy-fit when
normal people say anything that may be even remotely offensive to them,
while they regularly call us normal people every name in the book.
With all the anti-terrorism, anti-subversion, and other similar statutes
on the books, I worried that freedom of speech would completely disappear.
Noting this, I am surprised that few anti-war protesters have been arrested,
and those that have were arrested for violent and/or property crimes that
police that provided security to protect those protesters (also to my
surprise) witnessed. I believe that this attempt to retain civil liberty,
led by, at last count if memory serves me right, 140 Representatives in
Congress from both parties, including Rep. Butch Otter (R-ID), my Representative,
is helping protect your right to post this sewage on the Internet, which
was created by what you believe to be the "evil" military of
the "evil" United States of America.
Please do us reasonable people a favor, and take your tired, flawed,
and irrelevant rhetoric to some other country, to one of your allies.
Maybe somewhere in the Islamic world, maybe France, or Germany, or Russia.
Heck, raise twenty million dollars and maybe the Ruskies will take you
to space.
Dave R., Boise, Idaho
p.s. Despite the fact that I believe your propaganda to be a threat to
my security, I do feel for you. I read some of the other hate mail, and
saw a second recurring theme: complaints about your poor spelling. The
language that we speak is probably the hardest language to learn in the
world, and part of it is due to the nonsense spelling conventions with
which we were blessed. Though I believe myself lucky that I could gain
the skill that I have for spelling, which I thank the Creator for frequently,
should you post this letter under your
list of hate mail, I make a plea to those who wish to stand up for their
country to leave your spelling alone and save that energy for actually
defending their country, my country.
David,
You have got to be kidding. Do you realize how ignorant,
hateful, and bitter you sound? If you'd like to actually ask some questions
about our point of view rather than making random assumptions that are
more to do with your perceptions and fears than the actual content on
our site or our views, we would be happy to answer them. But I suspect
that you'd prefer to see what you want to see, judge us as you are comfortable
judging us, and keep your mind as closed as it seems here.
But in short:
As far as spelling goes, check the hate mail section again.
I think you'll see that the spelling problems belong more to those writing
the hate mail than to us.
Of the 3000+ people who were killed in the WTC... it may
surprise you to know that many of them WERE NOT AMERICAN.
I find it ironic that you believe that people on the left
are the ones squelching "dissent." Of course there are unreasonable
people in every political stripe, but you need look no further than the
airwaves to see what is really being squelched. How many left-wing versions
of Rush Limbaugh, or Fox News, or O'Reilly do you see? And what kind of
balanced views do you see on those programs. Your claims here (at least
as regard the media) are easily disprovable by numerous studies (See "WHAT
LIBERAL MEDIA," by, I believe, Eric Alterman).
By the way, I am currently in Nice, France, enjoying sun,
sea, great food, and educated people. My friend Beatrice (a French terrorist
who can cook a mean crepe) thinks you're being very silly.
Best,
Ian Kleinfeld
DemocracyMeansYou.com
Ian,
I have a right to be bitter. I was attacked twenty-two months ago, just
like the rest of us here. You proved my point exactly, as leftists like
to call anybody who disagrees with them names. If having an open mind
means hating my country and wishing for its destruction, I am proud to
be closed-minded as you say. Of course, that way my knowledge will not
fall out.
Think of this: have you ever heard of the Cable News Network (CNN)? About
Rush, he gets RATINGS! Without ratings, radio and tv shows do not survive.
How do these outlets get ratings? People - real, breathing people - listen
to and watch them!
Relax in Nice. I have no desire to go there, or any other foreign locale.
I would be a walking target there even more than I am in the United States.
Why? Only one reason: I am an American. They have never met me, but they
hate me only because I am an American. From Nice to Nasiriyah, from Berlin
to Beirut, the world hates us for what we are: successful, resilient,
and free. That is why WE ARE AT WAR.
This is all I have to say. Enjoy your crepe, whatever that is; I have
a hamburger on the grill.
Dave R.
p.s. One more thing. I feel for those fellow posters in the hate mail
category as well. Spelling is a tough task, especially in English.
David,
First off, dear sir, I didn't call you any names. I said
"Do you have any idea how ignorant, hateful, and bitter you sound?"
Whether you think so or not, there's a big difference between saying that
and saying "You are ignorant, hateful, and bitter ..." Think
about it. I did say my friend thought you were silly, but I'm not sure
that constitutes name calling either.
Now that that's out of the way, to answer your questions
and insinuations:
NO, having an open mind does not mean hating your country
and calling for its destruction. Nor do we. If you think that's our position,
you have misinterpreted anything you've read here.
YOUR ARGUMENT ABOUT RATINGS would make more sense if there
were any factual basis to it. Let's even just take one example, Phil Donahue,
who's a bit towards the liberal side... his new show was cancelled before
it even got on the air (or just after, I can't recall) because the network
wasn't comfortable with his viewpoint, not because of his ratings. Phil's
always had great ratings. Also, there are so few left leaning radio and
tv shows that there's no way to even tell what the ratings are or would
be with new ones. True, right-wing talk shows get good ratings, but the
absence of a counterpoint has more to do with the politics of those who
own the stations and corporations that run them rather than what's wanted
by the public. Bank on it.
"Relax in Nice. I have no desire to go there, or any
other foreign locale. I would be a walking target there even more than
I am in the United States. Why? Only one reason: I am an American. They
have never met me, but they hate me only because I am an American. From
Nice to Nasiriyah, from Berlin to Beirut, the world hates us for what
we are: successful, resilient, and free. That is why WE ARE AT WAR."
OK, I'll take this one point by point.
(A) You are not a walking target, I have not been a target here or anywhere.
I have not been harassed, bothered, threatened, anything for being American.
(B) People don't hate you here. They hate what the government is doing.
Most people understand it's the government, not the individuals.
(C) Sadly, there are plenty of exceptions to that, as there are definitely
prejudiced and ill-informed people here who talk about America the same
way you talk about France and "other foreign locales."
(D) Have you ever been outside the US for any length of time, know any
people from other countries, &/or speak any other languages? Just
curious.
(E) The world does not "hate us for what we are: successful, resilient,
and free." The world resents the actions of our government abroad,
which mostly consists of military and economic pressure to conform to
the whims of the U.S. government; supporting brutal dictators (from Cambodia
to Haiti to Iraq to Saudi Arabia and on and on...); arming and training
people like...um... OSAMA BIN LADEN, perhaps? and the Saudi Arabian National
Guard, which ensures that the Saudi people have none of the rights that
we enjoy here. The U.S. historically has little or no respect for other
cultures, values, or issues other than its own. The U.S. is seen by most
of the world as a greedy, overgrown, spoiled bully that wants its own
way with no understanding of the consequences of its actions... and very
shortsighted. That is why the world resents the U.S., not because "of
our freedoms."

we should have a right to protect our freedom? Do you think we should
just sit on our butts and continue to do so after they struck and attack
us again? I am glad George W finally decided to attack. It's about damn
time. I personally didnt like him to begin with and I don't agree on some
