However, have you looked at a dictionary lately? I suggest you look up those three words and see what the differences are.

And there's not a thing wrong with capitalism, as long as it's not
completely unbridled. Which is actually a good metaphor. Wild horses are nice to look at but they don't get you anywhere without bridles.

Ditto individualism. And unless you're a survivalist, you're plenty
dependent on the government yourself. Drive anywhere? Highways and streets are paid for with taxes. So are police and fire services. And a host of others. Government is not bad in and of itself. Bloated government is. And I suggest you look at the record for whether the Democrats or the Republicans have had more expensive governments in general. If you're still wanting to vote for Bush, I'd have to ask how logical you are, given those facts.

While I appreciate your arguement about "gay marriage," I can't help but feel it's an attempt to find a constitutional basis for something you just find distasteful or immoral.

The so-called "moral" argument holds no water as the state has no right to legislate religion, so any marriage would by definition be a civil marriage, in law, not in religion. That's for the churches. But civil marriage is and must be Constitutional.

As far as distasteful, there are plenty of distasteful things that are
legal, so I won't even address that.

Nothing even closely resembling fascism or totalitarianism (look up the words before you say something that might make you look ignorant) came from the Clinton administration.

So I'm a little confused how you could mix the two up.

You seem to miss the concept that it's possible to love somthing (in this case, our common country), and criticize it because you think it's off course. Adults get the idea that people are complex and imperfect and that two emotions can exist at the same time. (Love and frustration). Children are incapble of that level of emotional and intellectual sophistication, thinking that criticism=hate. It doesn't.

In actual response to your note, the government has shown many times over that it is not trustworthy unless there is oversight; indeed, that's the job of us as citizens, and the point of having three branches of government.

James Madison, I believe, said, more or less, "If men were angels, there would be no need for government." If the government was angelic, (and always trustworthy) there would be no need for the Constitution, congressional oversight, elections, or the courts.
