Bush to Use “Back Door” On Gay Marriage
Just as hypocritical as it sounds
Here we go again. While this country faces its worst deficit ever, engages in an illegal war to apparently boost recruiting efforts for al Qaeda and faces a growing unemployment situation — Bush is “troubled” by gay marriages.

That’s right, another example of why Bush isn’t even really a Republican. Republicans believe in states’ rights, fiscal responsibility and, well okay, they do believe in fruitless corporate war, but that’s beside the point.
The President recently announced that he will back a constitutional amendment to end world hunger – just kidding (had ya, didn’t I?). No, I mean he aims to change the constitution to end gay marriage. The new script, submitted by Rep. Marilyn Musgrave (R-Colorado), carefully defines “marriage” as a union between a man and a woman, which means Michael Jackson is a marriage.
Democrats decried Bush’s decision while at the same time providing oral services to their candidate, gay marriage opposer John Kerry. Homosexual Republican group, the hilariously named Log Cabin Republicans, accuse Bush of “pandering to the political right.” They also had some things to say about the sky being blue and grass being green.
States have already started issuing marriage licenses, exercising their right to be, uh, states. So, law-abiding citizens with matching genitals will soon be filing joint tax returns all over this great land. Troubling indeed.
And I ask you, if you hate gays and lesbians so much, why not let them marry and suffocate miserably like the rest of us? I keep hearing this commentary from heterosexual couples that gay marriage somehow threatens the validity of straight marriage. That if gays can get married, then it opens up the door for people to marry children and goats. But bigotry aside, children and goats don’t vote or pay taxes, so I don’t get why the government would issue them marriage licenses.
A CNN poll, not unlike the polls that helped elect Bush and Schwarzenegger (a shining example of the sanctity of marriage), pointed out that the majority of Americans oppose the marriage of people with matching genitals. Similar polls might have been taken pointing out that the American majority also opposes Blacks, Mexicans, Jews and women. The problem with democracy is that the majority doesn’t give a flying fudge about the minority.
I’m further impressed by the lack of respect some outspoken senators seem to have for judges. They’re being called “activist” judges. As if Bush’s fringe right-wing appointees aren’t activists. Senator John Cornyn, repub from, would you believe, Texas, sees the Massachusetts decision as a result of “lawlessness” on behalf of the judges who “encourage civil disobedience”. So apparently the responsibility of the courts to interpret the constitution only applies when it doesn’t interfere with the right wing agenda.
The question arises – if the government opposes gay marriage, do they then promote gay promiscuity? Or maybe they just expect people to stop being homosexual. It is, after all, according to the people in power, a big blankety-blank sin. Not big like lying in order to bomb something big, but still pretty big. So in the end, this has very little to do with marriage. This is really about going on record in opposition to homosexuality. Y’know, like Clinton did with the Defense of Marriage Act (a.k.a Defensive Marriage Act). Keep ‘em coming guys!
Meanwhile, Halliburton’s Kellogg, Brown & Root gets away with charging the taxpayer so they can stitch their logo into towels provided for the military as well as overcharging for substandard military meals that sometimes don’t even exist. Cost plus baby! Yeah, let’s give them more contracts! And the FBI and CIA agree; al Qaeda is alive and kicking - in fact, preparing to kick hard. And then there’s Janet Jackson’s tit!! Might the president be “troubled” by this?
