A Lot of Talk While Veterans Continue to be Left Behind

“Those who believe a police state can't happen here are poor students of history. Every government, democratic or not, is capable of tyranny. We must understand this if we hope to remain a free people.” (Ron Paul, R-TX)

There is a lot of political rhetoric coming from the Democratic Party about the “culture of corruption” within the Republicans in congress and the White House. While there is a culture of corruption within the Republican Party, the Democratic Party has absolutely nothing to hoot about! They have been at the “feed trough” for as long as the Republicans. One party with two different names the way I see it. Just the investigation on and around Jack Abramoff is in itself enough to confirm that. Mostly congressional Republicans were on his “payroll” but Democrats are in the mix as well.

Defense Contractors Haven’t Just Doled to ‘Duke is a report by the “Center for Responsive Politics: Money in Politics Report” which shows the enormous amount of “influence” the defense industry money buys in congress—Republican and Democrat alike. Influence is incorrect; rent, lease, buy or own your own congressman is more accurate a description of the government of this nation today and how it operates. They have one and all “forgotten” exactly who it is they all work for! We have got to remind them in no uncertain of terms.

The report and state by chart by Wayne Madison shows how deep this has gone so far—with more names coming up almost on a daily basis. Wayne’s, “State by State GOP Scandal Scorecard” is an absolute must read! In it, Wayne charts state by state, name by name, those who were involved with Abramoff, and took his money. It is a thick and deep web the “spider” has woven. This, even more than the investigation and indictments around “Plamegate”, more than Iran/Contra, more than Watergate, has the potential to bring down the house of cards the Republican Party, with Democratic help, has built. And come down it must if we are going to ever have the chance to build the nation as envisioned by the framers of our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution—which has been done almost irreparable harm.

In his article, “An Open Letter to Congress from a Veteran and Military Dad”, Stan Goff states:

It is because we understand power that we haven't the slightest intention of allowing ourselves to be used to promote your careers past the 2006 elections. If you fail to demand US withdrawal now, you are supporting the war; and if you support the war, as far as we are concerned, you can go straight to hell in 2006.”

Now that is something I can really get behind, getting rid of each and every member of congress--all 435 of them in the House have got to be removed. The entire congress is dysfunctional at this point in time. Their fight in congress is all about, “power, power who’s got the power?” In the meantime, we have people in Iraq being told to kill, kill, kill, and then be killed themselves; we have two deficits due to massive tax cuts and absurd levels of military wasteful spending—just think “Starve the Beast” ala Newt Gingrich and Grover Norquist & Co.

It is obvious to me that we, the people of this nation, the nation itself, are in dire straights, to say the least. February of 2004, Michael Chossudovsky at Global Research, wrote a paper titled, “The Criminalization of the State” which I highly recommend reading. He very accurately describes what we are facing in this nation: criminals in the highest levels of decision making, law making, policy making and setting the “rules” we all must live by. Just think Tom Delay, Dennis Hastert, Ney, Bill Frist, and the list goes on and on and on and on… If this is not the “criminalization of the state” I don’t know what is!

In a recent article, “Wishful Thinking Promoted, Truth Jailed”, by retired Air Force LT Col. Karen Kwiatkowski, she states, (this, as are all the links in this piece, are a must read):

“…Just to be clear, by "establishment," I am referring to the big government, big oil, and big military-industrial-congressional complex that is actively strangling the last bit of life out of an already unconscious American Republic.

Mark Warner attended the 2005 Bilderburger [inserted link added] meeting in Italy. He was the only governor to do so this year, and I think they approved. Thus vetted, his interest in the Presidency is now revealed, and his campaign theme may well be "A Wish for America" or "Hope Rising."

It will sell, and the establishment will get its share, its access, its murder, death and chaos, in Iraq and elsewhere. Americans, vaguely aware that we are in the early stages of a long economic decline and the eventual and costly collapse of the great American empire, will today heartily support more hope, more joy, and more state. As Americans clamor for these things, they will be only partially satisfied. Hope and Joy will be discussed, but only more State will be delivered.

Wishful thinking is promoted. But what of its competition? Truth, that poor relative, always hard to face, never needing anything and yet creating a certain discomfort among others in the room, remains a smoldering problem for Washington…”

Our own Declaration of Independence tells us:

“…that whenever any Form of Government destructive of those ends, it is the right of the People to alter or abolish it, and to institute a new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security…”

A good place and time to do just this, “alter of abolish” what we have, in a manner of speaking, will present itself this next year as all 435 members of the House of Representatives comes up for reelection. It is my opinion, as it is of others, that a single member of the House should be returned to congress. This also applies to those in the Senate coming up for reelection next year as well. We cannot leave anything, or anyone, out in our struggle to regain control over this nation, its politics, its policies, its economy, everything. If we do not, I question what will rise from the ashes when the nation collapses under the weight of what the Republican controlled congress and the Bush/Cheney shadow government has done to it in just 5 short years.

Cheney, Bush, and their entire secret “shadow government” must also be held to account. If we are able to break the strangle hold on our congress, maybe then we will be able to proceed with impeachment for them as well as criminal prosecution of the entire lot of them. (I do dream big if nothing else)
