Bush vs. Katrina: Don't Worry Be Happy

Hello John Kerry, our old friend(?),
We'd like to hear from you again,
Because the promise that you made us all,
Left us waiting for a vote recall,
And the vision that was planted in our brains
Still remains
Not just this sound of silence.

In restless dreams we watch the tube
Waiting for some recount news,
'Neath the halo of the CNN,
I plugged my lava lamp back in again
And my eyes are stabbed by the flash of a neo-Con
That split the dawn
Bush LOVES the sound of silence.

And in the naked light I see
Ten million people, maybe me.
People talking without LISTENING,
People praying without THINKING,
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dares
Disturb the sound of silence.

"Fools" say I, "You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows.
Hear my words that I might reach you
”The vote was rigged, and you're all stupid fools!”
But my words like silent raindrops fall,
And echo
In this land of silence.

And the people bow and pray
To the Nazi god they've made.
And the TV flashes its warning,
In the words that it is forming.
And the tube says, "The words of (George II,) the Prophet
are written on the subway walls
And union halls:
’Maintain your sound of silence.’"

*Sorry, Paul Simon.
"To remain silent is to voice approval."
