Senate Provides for Emergency Exceptions to Separation of Church and State
As expected and awaited by millions
Just like Christ...
To avoid the label of "unpatriotic," "former Senator," or worse yet, "un-Christian, homo-loving, school-prayer-fighting, ACLU card-carrying infidel," the nearly unanimous Senate passed a resolution 99-0-1, permitting state-sanctioned prayer in moments of National Psychic Emergencies.
"The President was dead-on right to call for a National Day of Prayer and Mourning back after September 11th. We're here to let the American public know that we support the President at this crucial time as well, this crisis of an ongoing and epic War on Terror, without question—and they should, too," said Minority Leader Trent Lott of Mississippi. "This is not a time for petty partisan Constitutional bickering. And I don't want to hear anything about that 'freedom from unreasonable search and seizure embarrassment,' neither. The founding fathers simply could not have foreseen the assault on our Great Nation or they would have left out that whole Establishment Clause bull."
National Psychic Emergencies are defined in the bill as "moments in the public consciousness when the majority of white, religious people with access to traditional media power channels are at a loss for meaning and decide it would be best for the nation to sit down and pray to the great Judeo-Christian god-or even maybe Allah, I suppose, since we're trying to look inclusive here."
The lone dissenter was Barbara Boxer of California, whose communist sympathies are widely known, regardless.
